The Cabin
The cabin is off-grid but with Wi-Fi. You can enjoy the peacefulness, the sunsets, the wildlife by kayaking in the lake, walking on the trail, hiking and swimming in near by spots and also get inspired in the desk inside, relax in the Adirondack chairs on the porch or a hammock in the woods. The kitchen, the toilet, the outhouse, the ourdoor shower, etc was built by us to provide a confortable stay.
Here is a list of things that we suggest you to bring for the cabin.
The Wood Stove
The cabin features a cute cubic wood stove to keep it warm; firewood is provided for the wood stove. If you need help to set the stove, please let us know. We are in the main home close to the cabin.
The cabin provide blankets, but we know during winter time it gets very cold. Close the back door that get to the kitchen to keep the sleeping area warm. In case it is too cold, we can provide extra blanket or sleeping bags.
The Kitchen
The small kitchen has an off-grid water system that operates with a foot pump faucet and a small enamel sink for basic use which provides 5 gallons of unheated water.
It has a single burner camping stove for basic cooking. We provide drinking water from our well, a small cooler, but we do not provide ice. The cooler is small, bring a cooler if you need more space. The kitchen is stocked with essentials for your cooking needs, including seasonings, oil, sugar, salt, pots, pans, cups, plates, silverware, etc.
The Toilet
I created several versions of the toilet to find the one that works best as an off-grid composting option. The toilet is situated indoors during the winter months (November to June), positioned at the rear of the cabin. Doors are in place to separate the toilet area from the living room and bedroom, providing privacy when needed. Furthermore, you can open the rear door of the cabin facing the forest if concerned about odors.
The toilet features a separator for urine (#1) and solid waste (#2). Adjacent to the toilet, there is a box containing sawdust and wood ashes to be added to the #2 section after use, aiding in decomposition. If you don’t feel confortable using a composting toilet, we provide bags to be replace the #2 section after each use.
During winter the toiler is inside the cabin, during summer and fall (if weather permitting) the toilet is in the outhouse
The Outdoor Shower
We offer an outdoor shower facing the forest that can be very refreshing on hot days.
It has a propane water heater in case you prefer a warm shower and has a bench to just sit down after shower and contemplate the nature, the sunset between branches and if you are lucky, see animals pass by or see the fireflies during the night
The Beds
We love king-size beds, but offering one in the cabin wasn't an option due to space limitations. Our solution was to acquire stackable beds (two twin beds) that can be stacked and converted into a king-size bed.
Additionally, we provide the option of having one twin bed for a single person, two twin beds for a couple of friends, or a king-size bed for two people.
When booking, please let us know your preferred setup so we can plan accordingly.
And More
The cabin features a small dining area equipped with a table and two chairs. Tablecloths, napkins, etc., are available for your convenience. The table can be folded if extra space is required. Additionally, there is a desk provided for those needing to work or seek inspiration (Wi-Fi available). Paper and a typewriter are available for capturing your ideas in physical form.
